They will sell you on the job,

Our tours help you fall in love with the city!

A reminder to all that Nov 7th is First Fridays in the Exchange District where art galleries and shops stay open from 7-9.  Many galleries have openings for new artists, serve wine and some have live music. The area is lively with people. My evenings usually conclude at an area bar for wine and munchies.  Make it habit to enjoy our culture on First Fridays.

Yesterday’s Free Press had a front page ad “Colorectal Cancer is the second most common cancer in Manitoba”.  I sit on the committee for Cancercare Manitoba’s “Bottoms Up for Colorectal Cancer”. I volunteer along with those doctors that are trying to create a center where further research will happen for this least talked about cancer. The goal also is to bring more awareness to the public to be proactive and get checked. Our Committee has started meeting to prepare for the 2015 bi-annual event. We are looking for more corporate sponsors that believe that we can make a difference. I need your support.

Thanks,

Karen Tereck

See their website http://www.winnipegfolkfestival.ca/  for details.  It is held the 2nd weekend of every July (Wednesday to Sunday).  I have volunteered at this event for more than 30 years.  My children have been going since they were 6 to this event;  now grown up, they plan their summers around  it.

I am on the Organizing Committee for the “Bottoms Up” Tapas and Mingling Evening in support of Colorectal Cancer.  Our Chair, Brad Oswald, is a colon cancer survivor and the most loved TV reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press. Our committee is made up of CancerCare doctors and other individuals that want to make a difference. All our money raised goes to CancerCare Manitoba Colorectal Programs that will enhance the lives of those with Colorectal Cancer. Our Goal is to raise $150,000.00

This is the often “not talked about” cancer that causes more deaths than breast or prostrate cancers. Talk to friends and family about coming out to support the 2nd bi-annual cocktail party of the year. This is going to be an “Over the Top” event.  The room will WOW you, the entertainment make you laugh until it hurts and the prizes and auction table will be the best you have ever seen.

Go to the website  https://www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca/netcommunity/sslpage.aspx?pid=1039 and order your tickets now.  We are only selling a limited number of tickets and you don’t want to be disappointed. The patron tickets will acknowledge your presence and generosity in our formal Program book at the event.

According to an article in the Winnipeg Free Press on Wednesday January 2, 2013 Tim Hortons customers decided to pay it forward this past holiday by paying for the next customer in line both inside and in the drive-through.  This went on for approximately three hours with over 200 orders paid for.

It only takes one act of kindness to make someone's day so let's all resolve to put our kind foot forward this year!
